I know I haven't been here for a couple of days . . . Still trying to figure out some sort of a blogging schedule . . . But I thought I'd take the time to say "Happy New Year!" and reflect a bit.
New Year's Eve has always been one of my favorite holidays. My grandma, Rita Kay, is a very festive person, and most of my New Year's celebrations have been spent with her. We would eagerly wait to watch the ball drop, sip sparkling cider, and exchange hugs and kisses while Dad played Auld Lang Syne on his trumpet off the front porch (our alternative to a gunshot).
The past several New Year's Eve celebrations, my family has watched the ball drop with one of my friends and his family. Shawn was able to attend last year while we were dating, and we are eager to spend some more time with them this evening. Good friends from high school can be incredible blessings.
I hope you can look back on 2014, enjoy some good laughs, smile over fond memories, and give yourself some grace for the moments you may wish to forget. Whatever you went through in 2014, the good, bad, and the beautiful, I'm here to say "Congratulations!". You made it through.
In my own 2014, I am thankful for
Even if you have had a hard year, there is always something to be thankful for, if you dig deep enough.
So here's to 2015, a year to "grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior", a year to abound in God's love, and another year in which we can live "joyfully ever after"
Happy New Year,
Melody Maynard
P.S. Stay tuned for more of our love story coming later this week!
